主要致力于动物病毒病原生物学及以病毒为纳米生物材料的多学科交叉研究,建立了动物病毒样颗粒(VLPs)组装及优化技术平台,获得国内最先报道的原核表达系统组装的口蹄疫VLPs。一类新兽药注册证书2项、获23项中国发明专利、4项国际专利,4份生物安全证书、2份临床批件,并先后获中国专利优秀奖、甘肃省专利一等奖和甘肃省专利发明人奖、第九届大北农科技奖创意奖、中国农科科学院科技奖及中国农业科学院成果转化奖等;主持国家级项目5项(其中重点研发课题1项,国家自然基金3项、外专局引智项目2项)及10多项省部级/院级科研项目;分别以第一及通讯作者在Protein and Cell,mBIO,J Immunol, J Virol, Nanoscale,Nanomedicine:NBM,Cell and Death Disease,RNA biology等优势期刊收录文章70多篇,其中2篇分别为Nanoscale、J Virol封面文章;以主编编著《动物病毒样颗粒技术》(中国科学出版社)、以副主编编著《天然分子免疫学》(科学出版社)、以编委参编译著《默克兽医手册(第十版)》(中国农业出版社)等5部专著;为中国畜牧兽医学会生物技术学分会委员、甘肃省免疫学会感染免疫与防治专业委员会委员、中国畜牧兽医学会口蹄疫学分会理事、中国畜牧兽医学会兽医公共卫生分会委员、中国生物医药学会核酸疫苗分会、Journal of Molecular Pharmaceutics & Organic Process Research编委
